Many of our dogs have come from difficult backgrounds and may have had far from perfect experiences or a lack of training. However the majority of dogs respond well to training; even older dogs - they benefit from positive reward with firm but kind boundaries and consistency. We will address training and behaviour initially whist the dogs are in foster homes. Where necessary we have provided residential behavioural training.
Our aftercare means that we really want to know if any of our adopters are struggling with any behavioural issues so that we can help or guide them in the best direction so that the Paws Crossed dog can remain in their new home with everyone being happy. We like to keep in touch with our adopters to find out how everyone is doing and offer support where needed and appropriate. We also love to know about how well they are doing too!!
Our adoption contract acknowledges that things can change in family circumstances and that a Paws Crossed dog should never be sold on or given to another home. Whilst we expect that people are committing to a dog for life we ask that if a family do find themselves in the unfortunate situation that they are looking to rehome their Paws Crossed dog that they must get in touch to let us help with this.
We have been able to offer training and agility classes in the past to Paws Crossed adopted dogs. These are currently not available unfortunately but we are hoping to be able to do so again in the future. We are also looking at the possibility of walking services for adopted dogs.
