All those interested in adoption will be asked to have at least one home check. You may be visited on more than one occasion, especially for instance, where adaptions to your home environment are necessary. You will be asked a number of questions about your circumstances and what you are looking for from your new family member. It is important to be as open and honest as possible; sometimes people are nervous about this interview but we are not trying to "catch anyone out" - we just want to have as much information as possible to make sure we help you and the dog with the right match. We want to avoid any unsuccessful re-homing - after all not every dog is the right dog for you and not every home is the right one for the dog.
Introductions & Home Trial
Having matched a dog to a potential owner, meetings will be arranged for introductions before a home trial is agreed. At this point there are no guarantees that you will adopt this dog, though we hope so! But we do need to be as certain as possible that this is the right home for this particular dog.
Adoption Contract & Fee
Once a home trial is agreed, you will have a foster agreement with Paws Crossed. It is hoped that this will lead to adoption. After an agreed successful period you will be asked to sign an adoption contract. There is an adoption fee for all Paws Crossed dogs payable in full after a successful home trial.
Adult dogs -£350
Dogs under one / puppies -£400
We are sure you understand the huge cost to run this totally non-profit-making dog rescue. These fees rarely if ever cover the cost of vet fees let alone anything else required.
